Hi guys,

I just did my 240z (V8) and now my wife wants her 67 Mustang all done up. It has a 302 2brl, 3spd auto.

I want to keep it auto, but want 4brl carb 10:1 compression headers ect. Should I build this block and get AFR heads and some other alm intake and holley 600 or just go get a crate non FI motor?

The car is near mint and hate to loose the block numbers. Also what auto 4spd trans does ford make?

My wife wants me to build this so it will keep up with my V8 Z.. hehe

Thanks.

Dave

some of the mustang sites sell late model ford explorer heads cheap or you could go aluminum.afr heads are probably too big for 302 on street.bigger ports = less velocity at low rpm =less torque.ford has trans called aod -the late model mustang guys use these on street-strip cars with 3.73 or 3.55 rear.if you have 8" rear get a pumpkin from a mustang 2 that has a 2.8 v6 -that was 3.55.a good 302 with a aod would be fun in early mustang.

i'd say see if you can find a donor car. being able to grab a fuel injected 5.0 with all the parts and a matching tranny would probably make things a bit easier.

hmm... wait... see if you can get a police interceptor from the late 80's through 91. should have a nice 351 with an aod to match. smile.gif

Heh, I saw a local police car with the 'Police Interceptor' emblem on it, I can't tell you how much I wanted to grab that emblem, but figured prying it off a police car would'nt be socially acceptable. (Not to mention stupid.. ) smile.gif

a friend of mine has one of those and a 5.0 logo on his 83 sentra. we might transfer them to his 89 escort smile.gif

go to your local ford dealer, you might be able to order them. i believe that's where he got his. granted, his brother runs the parts department...

Look up Jim Dingle and PPI Performance onthe WEB - he'll have them I'll bet.

As for stealing from cop cars - ask a cop about it. Apparently it's done often even in the police lots! Kids do it as a dare and as some sort of initiation around here. Sheesh!
