jeg60driver
Okay everyone, this is my first post to HybridZ. I am starting my new prodject of a restoration and V8 conversion on my '77 280Z. I did alot of research to find the most cost effective way to build or buy a rotisserie. Nothing I could find came out cheaper thn my design idea, even the engine stand posts that I found here. So here is what I came up with. 1 2000 lb engine hoist, extendable legs but not foldable. $80.00 that I found at a scrap yard 7ft 2 1/2 X 2 1/2 X 3/16 Square tubing, 8" of 3" SCH 40 Pipe (Cut into 2 4" pieces), and 16" of 2" SCH 40 Pipe (cut into 2 8" pieces). $71.36 from a local metal shop. 6 3" swivel casters and 4 cans of black spray paint. $42.00 from Lowes I disassembled the cherry picker and cut everything at the welds saving everything including the brackets. You will use these again later. Using a band saw I cut the ends straigt and made the following materials: 3X3 Tubing / 2 1/2 X 2 1/2 Tubing 2 52" / 2 45" 2 25" / 2 22.5" 2 22.5" / 2 17" 2 14" / 1 84" 4 3" (with lock bolts) I used the hyd jack from the Cherry picker also then took another from my cherry picker for temp use. If the picturs dont discribe everything then I can try to explain if you need help. I did all of the welding myself so don't judge the welds. Only the third time in my life that I have welded but I got better as the welds continued. Once assebled and the car was put on the rotisserie I put in saftey pins for the pivot point at 90 deg intervals, and on the uprights when the car was at spinning height. With the extendable upright I have from 30" to 50" of hight travel. Let me know what everyone thinks.
