jeromio
Any plans to either sell those motor mounts or make drawings available? (I'm still wavering between the 5.0 and the 7M-GTE. The former is looking good mostly due to the build up of excellent info on the swap. The latter has more power per dollar potential though....) Guest scca
the drivers and pass side are different.. the drivers i can make up in about 2 hours the bends in the 1/4" steel act like a spring to prevent the plate from sagging. the pass side i needed to add a vertical support as well. that side would take 4-5 hours to make up. i dont have drawings as i made them up as i went. i have a template here for the steering rod mount and the shaft lengths. Guest scca
Thanks ! i still need to figure out the air cleaner, the local parts places only have 3" and i want to run direct to the mass air sensor connector thats almost 3.5" i'm pretty happy with the look so far.. maybe now i wont need to take it apart AGAIN next year! i've got the wiring all documented on the whole thing... i didnt do much but work on my car for 2 weeks so it was pretty labor intensive.. Guest firebern
It is good you took notes. When I was done with mine, the electronics were so clear in my head, I felt like putting one of those ford 302 HO in every 70-80s imported sport car I saw: triump GT6 , celica GT, supra or rx-7. I am still looking for a good candidate.
Kevin Shasteen
Mike, That looks really good; looks like a lot of knuckle busting took place. The car really looks nice; bet the convertible part isnt too bad either! Kevin, (Yea,Still an Inliner)
Evan Purple240zt
YEAH, i can finally help! Jegs sells a k$n filter with a 3.5 inch opening. I used on on my s10 and one in my z Evan PS its shorter and cheaper than the 3" version
Trevor
Mike, Is that a '65 or '66 Mustang in the driveway? I have a '66. People often ask if I am the original owner. Either I look pretty old for 38, or I started driving at age 3!
Guest scca
66........ waiting its turn for a convertible conversion.. that should be a piece of cake compared to doing the Z.. as every part you can buy- dont need to make a trunklid... just gotta change door glass-rear 1/4 glass and buy a roof mechanism.. Guest Anonymous
That is an awesome looking convertable Mike. Was there a ton of stiffening done on the chassis, I would imagine there was. Nice job on the engine install... So whats the verdict? Is it running? Again, very nice. Regards, Lone
Guest scca
the car is running.i had to re-re the intake for eliminating a oil leak at the rear of the intake on the first day i drove it- but other than that no other issues.... everything seems to work fine. i NEED to change the diff gears as i put 3.9's in it for the L6 and now i dont even need first gear in the tranny... but it sure is fast off the line now! 2nd gear is kind of fun as at 30mph you can floor it and get the tires to chirp loose and the car takes off.. i put a full 2x3" square tube along the door sills inside the car and used lots of 3/16" plate in the rear between the tire wells and the door seam. i will likely add a longer frame rail now that there is a v8 in it. and maybe a plate along the tunnel as well.. i havent driven it in so long i forgot what its like... its quite the ego booster to drive it gets so much attention. 90% of the people dont know its a Z car, i've had people think its a aston , fiat, jensen - ferrari-- you name it.. even one idiot thought it was a MGB?????? we were at a sidewalk cafe in San Rafael and this guy walked by the car like 4 times trying to figure out what it was, guess he never figured it out as he was talking to his wife and shaking his head.. too funny.. Guest Anonymous
I can imagine it does draw attention, it really is beautiful. Thanks for the details. Regards, Lone
Guest firebern
I was thinking about that too, making the frame rails longer to connect the back. I think it wuold help a lot. Anybody tried installing a solid diff. mount?
pparaska
Firebern, you're talking about something like the subframe connectors I made and put in my car. Check out the "Structural Mods" page on my site, if interested. Some like and some hate the solid mount. Too noisy for me.
Guest scca
yes i was thinking of something similar to what pete did..... and i will retain the stock diff mount.. just put a new nissan one in---- will see how long that lasts for.... BLKMGK
Mike, is that the video clip you sent me? If so perhaps I can host. I've got a Domain registration coming at last too so it'll be easier in the future My own server, they can't complain if I host video but it might make my bitty connection slow if everyone jumps on it at once. Would DIVx bother anyone? Could someone compress it maybe?
