dnatoli
Hello everyone! I was just wondering if you all could help me with some part numbers for the autometer gauges. I didn't find anything that directly answered the question at hand and was hoping maybe someone can answer in an organized manner which should help everybody out. I have a 72 240z and im swapping a series 2 rb25 into it. Ill be utilizing a 3.54 r200. I would like all the gauges in the dash to be replaced with white autometer ones and I would like the useless clock to be replaced with a boost gauge. If anyone could help me with this I would greatly appreciate it, and if this has been answered somewhere else please just kindly pass the info on because I tried and did not find much (granted I am on my cell and internet is slow) Thank you, Danny

(or so my auto mac says)
dnatoli
I actually read your post and for a second I found that hard to believe, but then I realized that it is actually a feasible statement because the ecu on an older car will operate almost entirely on a 5v reference and the gauges will work on a 12v. But your auto guy is incorrect, it is not the voltage being pulled through the ecu that is killing your computer its the amperage. Your computer has termination resistors inside of it that help prevent voltage spikes from killing it as well as reduce the 12v inputs and outputs down to 5v. When 12v is attempted to be pulled from your gauge and pcm, those termination resistors are fighting the amperage being pulled and getting very very hot. And in turn frying your computer. So to sum it up, its not the voltage killing everything, its the amperage But unfortunately that isnt what I was hoping for in this post. I would really like to know part numbers for the autometer gauges and maybe some pictures, and I guess some part numbers and pictures for the alternate; the speedhut gauges. Thank you, Danny
