GOTHALOSISM
Ok heres the story, LT1 swap with the CS144 1 wire alt. It worked great untill the battery post inside the alt decided to come loose (they did not locktight the nut). I pulled it apart and reattached the nut and applied lock tight. I then installed new brushes just to be safe. Since then I have burned out 3 regulators. I just got a new one installed yesterday from a alt repair store. I hooked up the 1 exciter wire (yellow from the datsun harness), and a wire that goes directly to the battery. As soon as I turned the key I now have no charging yet again. Does this make any sense? Can I install an external regulator?
randy 77zt
Maybe the engine block and the car body arent grounded correctly.I have an odessey battery mounted in the back of my car.I ran both 0 size welding cable to the starter=gound and +.the battery should be grounded directly to the engine block.check the voltage on the wire from the key that excites the alternator.Running a ground from the battery to the body -then from the body to the engine is asking for trouble
