kph
I have a bit of a problem I am hoping the fabricators here can help me with. I have two 240 bodies, one of which the city has informed me needs to go. I have stripped the one car down to just a uni-body with a few brake lines. The car I plan to build has a great body, but needs floors and frame rails in the engine compartment. I have purchased floors, but am wondering about the engine compartment. I have read here that people fab the engine compartment frame rails back to the floor boards with 2x2 and 2x3 steel tube stock. But what of the radiator cross-member? Can this also be fabbed with new tube-stock? The rails and cross member in my soon to be gone parts car are in good shape. Should I try to cut them out before I get rid of it? It seems that it would be a real pain to cut them out, and if it is possible (and easier?) to fab all three sections, I would cut bait and get the donor outta here before the city returns to follow up on my non-op vehicle. Any ideas, opinions, or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Kevin
johnc
Should I try to cut them out before I get rid of it? Even if you don't use the frame rails, floor pans, roof, rear 1/4 panels, rockers, doors, fenders, and radiator core support, all of those parts can be sold. Its worth the time, trouble and sawzall blades to salvage these parts if they are rust free and not beat up.
