dpuma8
I habe the EZ wiring harness and I know the Z cars have ground switched high beams and turn signals. Is there anything special we have to do to make this work with ground switched items? Or is it pretty much plug and play? What about adding a relay for the headlights? I see there is a diagram on Atlantic Z on adding a relay so would wiring the headlights to EZ's diagram change the way I need to add the headlight relay? ihiryu
I'm not sure, but I'm sure you could use relays. So pretty much; 85-> Power 86-> Turn signal switch 30-> Ground 87-> Wiring harness So when the turn signal turns on and it supplies ground, it'll ground 30 pin to 87. Kinda of a pain considering you would have to wire two relays, but I'm sure that will work.
Snailed
Is there a reason you can't just wire the lights in the GM/EZ wiring fashion? What parts of the Z wiring are you trying to retain? Maybe this will help; http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/109980-need-major-help-identifying-combination-switch-wires/ Edited December 8, 2012 by Snailed
dpuma8
No. there is not a problem with doing it their way. I am trying to learn to be a car guy and I wasn't sure if the combination switch along with ground switched items meant I had to do something different. SO just follow what EZ says to do and it will work?
Snailed
I found this here, on Hybrid-Z. I have not tried this but it seemed to work for the guy that posted it. I don't remember who it was unfortunately. You should spend more time searching in the future. I just happened to be researching wiring stuff and saw this. Painless Wiring uses the same General Motors wire color code so these should translate to the EZ Wiring if you got the colored harness. If you bought the black one, just cross reference the color to function.
