Guest Zpeed
Well thanks to my wonderfull perants i have got a bit of money to spend on my z, and i need advice on what to do, my L26 is completly stock and i need some help on what to do to it, i have a rough idea, i cannot transplant so i want some bolt ons that i can later transplant onto a l28 which i will have in about 3 years, only because i'm not allowed to change my engine over, the laws here don't allow me to do it so young. so please help me with advice, what i want is a nice sounding, reasonable milage, and something that can't beat those little hondas. thanks
Guest Anonymous
Nathan, I've just taken out my engine, box etc for my Lexus transplant. I had a EFI 2.8 arrangement and a guy around the corner is the DB's with tuning the heads. Depends what you want to do and how many $'s you want to throw at it. Another guy not far from me prepares all the Australian Marathon Z's eg the London-Sydney, Panama etc. Richard
Guest Zpeed
Yer well, i will eventuall want to get into the low 14s, but i know that is a long way away, personally i want something that i can be proud of, i was thinking 2.5inch exhaust but not sure if i should keep the same manifold or get a custom, i am in the search of some 72 carbs, i mite be getting some for $350, i heard they are the better ones to get, and i'm not sure about the rest like with airflow and all that, so any advice, i got around 2 - 4 grand to spend, but i only want to spend as little as possible to save for that l28 or even a rb26. Drax240z
If you still have the stock flat-top carbs, I would make my first upgrade to get rid of them, if you can't do an engine swap.
Owen
I'm guessing from your post saying "L26" that the car is a 260Z. In that case, switching to '72 carbs may be illegal cuz theyre older than the car itself. But you can always swap them back to the stock ones come smog check time. Depends on how handy you are but I would get at least a full performance exhaust, K&N air cleaner, and shocks/springs. This will at least make the car fun to drive and pleasant to listen to. At smog time swap the exhaust etc. back to stock. You said "can't" beat the Hondas but I think you meant the opposite? Owen
