240Z Turbo
Norm, why do you want a 2mm gasket? I have one that I used for several months that is in great condition. You can reuse these gasket several times. Just let me know. BTW, they are about $175 from NISMO who bought the last of them from HKS. Guest norm[T12SDSUD]
Thanks Jim. Please e mail me the price for the used gasket. Hey Drax, my engine was running great but the #4 cylinder dropped half its pressure last week,so I took the head off today and everything looked good and the rings did as well so it looks like it was probably a head gasket leak.I might go with two gaskets again since it lasted two years this last time, but if its feasible I may go with the HKS. Drax240z
Ah Norm, the 2 stock headgaskets finally went on you? You must have got over a yeah running 2 headgaskets, right? Crazy stuff!
Guest norm[T12SDSUD]
Hey Drax, I tore the engine down this week and the old double head gaskets did not fail! It was the piston that caused the compression loss. The #4 Piston had broken 2nd and 3rd ring lands. The actual rings were just fine however. Also, the #6 piston had a broken 3rd ring land over half of the piston. The strange thing was it registered perfect compression on #6, but it would have been a matter of time before dropping as well. As best I can figure I think I did the damage over three weeks ago at Farmington dragway. I wanted to see if the motor would pull past 7100 rpm and unfortunately it did.I must have turned close to 7500 rpm before I finally shifted and I think the added stress was just too much for the old pistons. Hopefully, I'll have her back up and running again within the month. Later, norm the R&D man(testing the limits of stock Z parts for the betterment of all mankind.)
