rickyellow zee
My idle is going up and down which usually means i have a vacume leak. I've checked my vacume lines and everything checks out fine. my question to you is will a improperly adjusted idle speed adjustment screw(on throttlebody ) cause my idle to roam? Also will a improperly adjusted air by pass screw( on air flow meter) also cause a fluctuating idle? Thanks for reading. Rick.
Heroez
AFM. That means you have stock EFI. 75-83. Idle air adjustment at throttle body. Naturally aspirated. Its like a puzzle. Facts like idle speed, timing, amount of fluctuation will help. Check for leaks at idle with a gauge. If you are in spec, move on. Cover that base first. Visual inspection is a good step one, good for you. Stay on the good path. Edited March 23, 2013 by Heroez
AZGhost623
Two ways I have used before in the past on finding a vacuum leak. Easy way is to just get some carb cleaner, and spray around generously around the rubber boots doing a section at a time. If you notice your engine go up in idle, then you found the area to look around and/or rubber to replace. 2nd way is a bit more fun, and lazy if you ask me, just need a cigar and a few big puffs, blow your smoke into the intake. Any smoke leaking out is where your leak is at.
