skirkland1980
While adding some outputs to my ms2 I discovered that the bip373 was getting hot with the key on engine off. I made sure that the ign output was set to going high inverted. I changed it to normal and had the same problem. I noticed that the D14 led was staying on which likely meant that the coil was trying to power up. I removed the coil fuse and the bip started cooling down. So I discovered a fix. I went into output port settings and set 'injection led' to rpm > 100 and that's it. The bip373 stays cool with the key on, engine off. Matt Cramer
What exactly is IGBTIN wired to, and what is spark output A set to in the tune file? Edited May 6, 2013 by Matt Cramer
skirkland1980
Spark output A is set to D14. If I'm not mistaken, I wired IGBTIN to R26 with a 330 ohm resistor.
Matt Cramer
Please double check to ensure you are not mistaken.
skirkland1980
I just looked at the board. It's wired to R26. If you're looking at the back side of the board with the map sensor on the bottom left, the wire is soldered to the top of R26. Is that the right way? Matt Cramer
That is correct. Is D14 on with the key on and engine off? It shouldn't be.
skirkland1980
It was on with the key on engine off until I made the change in the output port settings.
Matt Cramer
Ok. Check the voltage on the wire to pin 1 of the BIP373 with the key on, engine off, and let me know what you find.
skirkland1980
I'm not sure which terminal you mean but the left terminal is 0.7mV, middle 12.28V, right 0.2mV.
skirkland1980
I am getting a misfire under boost like the spark is too weak to keep from blowing out.
Matt Cramer
Try decreasing the plug gap or increasing dwell.
skirkland1980
Ok. Thanks. Do the voltage readings look ok? My dwell is 3. What would you recommend?
Matt Cramer
Yes, the voltage looks OK. Got any specs on your coil?

Matt Cramer
You can go as high as 6.8 ms dwell without overheating the BIP373. (Not sure if that much dwell will overheat the Blaster 2 coil, or if you can get that much at high RPM - you may want to try incrementally increasing it until the misfires go away.) skirkland1980
Ok. I'll try that thanks. If it doesn't work then I'm switching to wasted spark.
