Daz
I'm doing a LS1 swap and I need to know what wires do need to hook up to power my lights and heater. I already have a standalone harness for my swap, I figured that would run off the battery. I'm a little frustrated and not thinking clear so can someone give me direction ? noelawinslow
I don't understand the question. Which lights? The heater is vacuum operated, and there are wiring diagrams for the entire car. What year? It sounds like you need to do some more research. Zdriver and other forums have color wiring diagrams. Start there. Study them for a good two hours. An engine swap needs wiring diagrams. There are even some LSx diagrams out there I've seen while looking for turbo swap information.
Domzs
I think he's talking the "CEL" and O2 heater . More info would help .
Daz
I need to power just my exterior lighting, igntion and heater duct fan. Sorry guys ! I got a little frustrated on something else and then decided to try and look at a wire diagram bad mix !
noelawinslow
Ignition is black/White striped, headlights are red wires. The plugs have a marking on them where the lamps plug in. Drive is hi beam, pass is low beam. Ground is ground.

Daz
Swap is not complete yet. I bought a viper t56 that I will pickup this weekend, I'll have to swap in a input shaft/midplate or get the stock input shaft milled and buy a spacer. The LS 4.8 engine is assembled. Old engine/trans is gone ! I did cut out obvious wires(distributor, alt, etc). I have speedhut gauges and push button start, RX8 powered driver seat. I made my own stand alone harness which is mostly done and it will mount where the batt. would normally go. The batt. will be inside the cab. Domzs
Sounds like a good plan . Should've have kept all OE wires . I kept all mine , never know what I might add on in the future . As far as the mentioned items , were they working before ?
Daz
I'm not sure ! PO said the car ran 6 months before I bought it. He parked it to do a SR20 turbo swap when his wife got orders for Georgia. I never tried starting the car after I bought it and trailered it home. I just started removing stuff I know I wasn't going to use.
Domzs
What year car ? FSM has wire routing and location , should give you some idea .

Domzs
Late model , think you have to use 75 280z FSM . I'll check to see I can come up with anything . Have any pic of that area ?
Domzs
Can't get a complete 75 FSM . Not sure the 74 will work on the late build date .
Daz
Does battery power come through the starter ?
Domzs
On the 75 shows to have 3 wires at the starter solenoid . Bat. feed wire , white wire to fusible ( feeds entire car electrical system ) , and yellow wire to interlock relay ( starter signal wire ) . Daz
I'll look again for just a white wire then !
noelawinslow
Look for something that goes back to the fuse link.
Daz
So in theory the thick white wire is the main power wire and I can basically put power to it and it'll power everything ?
Domzs
Yup .
