Could this rev limiter be used with a 280z?

The Procomp PC 2031, installation instructions here http://www.procompelectronics.com/instructions/images/PC2031.pdf so you can see how it hooks up. it looks like it should work with any car that has a single coil? I assume it works by cutting power to the coil at a certain RPM. In theory, I should be able to wire it through a switch and set the limit low (like 3000 RPMs) and use it as a launch control mechanism of sorts. Does this make sense? 

 

so, A) will it work in general as a limiter with the 280z's ignition system and can I put a switch between one of the wires from the box to the car (like between the coil or between the box's ground wire) to activate the limiter when I want.
