280zx 5 speed lock nut question

Ok so my transmission is in need of a rebuild and I'm confident I can do it my self. The only real issue I am having is with the lock nuts. I can get the bottom one off no problem. My question is is the main drive lock nut right or left hand thread. The transmission is not a t5 I believe its out of a 82 turbo car.

You should be able to look at the edge of the threads and tell which way they are turning.

Put the middle plate in a big vice. Take a small chisel and push back the lock edge on the nut. Put the trans in 2 gears at once. (detent balls removed) to hold the shaft from turning. A large crescent wrench will work with a cheater pipe if necessary to turn the nut.

Thank you again I actually broke the plate in the center with bearings in my 83 transmission because i over tightened the nut. My plan is to use the plate from the 82 tranny as a replacement for the plate I broke.
