Guest Anonymous
I'm about to redo my 240 engine. I see the pistons for these cars are brutally expensive. But i was wondering does honing the block give you similar results to boring. I know i get no extra CC's but that doesn't matter too much to me. Guest greimann
Honing is done to improve the surface finish of the cylinder and does not significantly change the diameter of the cylinder bore. This is typically done with grinding stones on an armature. You must do this everytime you change rings. Boring is removing material to increase the size of the cylinder, or to make the cylinder true, after which, you must hone to establish the proper surface finish. Mudge
Even if you were to pickup an extra 5 cubes from boring it out, your doing it for the purposes of rebuilding the engine, not making power. If you were even making 2HP per cube, thats an extra 10HP, big whuppee.
