  1. On some wheels lip to lip only adds 1/2" (I'm thinking of stock GM salad shooter wheels).
  2. Requires patience http://www.hugi.is/hahradi/bigboxes.php?box_id=51208&f_id=1000
  3. eBrake stopped working on my Z28 and I just left it in first for months, supposedly you had to drop the trans to fix the issue and seriously, I just decided to sell it as is These days I dont put the e-brake on so darn tight, just incase, at least it seems a lot easier to fix on this car.
  4. LOL I never gave up the 240Z dream, just put it on hold... I moved also, Redwood City a tad south. Cheers
  5. Its in there now but I got tired of the whole deal and I've always intended to eventually have a V8. The only way I'm going to get myself to do it is to give away the L6 and just DO IT. This will also give me a nice spot to prep the engine bay and such before hand, I actually have a garage to work in now. I'd go LS1 if I felt like spending more time and a lot more bread, but I like cheapish toys too much. I got rid of the Camaro also awhile back so I've been pondering a bike or 99/00 FRC C5 (hardtop)... Saw your LS1 vid, very nice! Got tired of the old LT1 eh? Me too
  6. Rick, I had thought the 5.0 was around 400# and the modern day LT-1 was in the low 5s (530?). The 5.0 has iron heads and an aluminum intake, the LT-1 has aluminum heads/intake, but is a tad beefier/larger.
  7. Some parts will set you back major $ (LSD rear end) or will be junkyard only, some of the reproduction prices are $ as well.
  8. Intake manifold off the trucks is a tad shorter, unless that 351 came out of one already.
  9. cough cough ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha cough ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
  10. It really looks like any V engine with DOHC would be a beach to fit.
  11. The firewall is about 3" further forward, they are heavier cars as you noted, and bumpers or not I am not as much a fan of them visually. Perhaps it being a little newer is another reason, its not as "classic," like modding a muscle car kind of  I'm sure it could be done though, they still fit that big old 6 in there.
  12. No idea on the car, I'm 250-256 though depending on the diet.
  13. Some people still road race the 928s for fun so I dont see why the 944 would be a bad choice, good luck.
  14. In CA if the car was labled historic I think it can only be driven 25 miles a month or so, its too low for me. Technically the car is supposed to be re-certified in this state which means it would have to be smog tested as the year of engine that was transplanted, I think I will convenieintly forget to do this, just have to stay out of trouble. It would also be defrauding the insurance company
  15. I'm finally moving into a place with a garage at the end of this month and hoping to FINALLY have a place to work on the project in peace. I would love to have over 400 HP in a ~2400 pound car, but I'd like to see how it could be done on a reasonable budget with EFI so I have to get educated on the aftermarket intakes. Cheers
  16. If too thin of a gauge wire is used it will kill some of the voltage on the line, making it read less than actual, which could be one cause.
  17. There was one VG30ET swapper here, and I think only one...
  18. Dowels are going to be hardened, its either a suitable job for a shop with precision equipment (not by hand), or something to throw in the towel on. If you filed it flat and had a drill press and method to hold the cam in place without damaging it maybe you could get in there straight, and then use an EZ OUT, but I think for the home guy it would be something I wouldn't even try. Good luck however you handle it!
  19. They can be built for it, or you can get other carbs - but the FI stuff is likely going to be expensive and a tad time consuming. I love FI, but carbs would be "simpler" generically speaking. Carbs do quite well but I have a hard time picturing AF dispersion as better than injected, even injector type differs. Carbs are often jokingly described as "a metered fuel leak," or "the only device known to man to provide an incorrect AF ratio at all RPMs." Without custom EFI though, the stock stuff isn't going to cut it I think.
  20. There was a member here from Oregon I believe who was in a little trouble over gun laws. The law in general if it comes down on you may come down hard, even if you think you are totally in the right. Its a shame but I dont think everyone gets a fair shake these days, I try to stay as far out of trouble if possible.
  21. Even if you get caught in a bad situation it can show lack of judgement etc, so they could be punishing you for "not taking the right course of action" aka not using your brain. Think before you act yada yada, it sounds goofy but law is just so damn complicating that it is something I come to expect from the law, lots of confusion and differences in interpretational viewpoints.
  22. I dont recall for certain but I think SFs death toll for peds last year was 17 (?)
  23. In the Californian drivers handbooks they have the right of way no matter what, in fact it is one of their trick questions. Is it stupid? Maybe, but if you can hit a car at 15 MPH versus hitting a person, they are going to prefer you hit the car than hit a ped, hence peds have the right of way in California.
