MYRON
Hey guys, My little brother bought a 79 that needed a little work. He has it back together and running BUT it is running rich as a pig. He replaced two of the temp sensors in the waterneck and we have played a little with the cold start valve. Any suggestions were to hunt next? Guest Ian turbo240
Make sure that the coolant temp signal is getting to the computer. If the temp sensor signal is not present, the computer defaults to full rich. Often times the wiring near the cts plug is broken. DAW
Check the flapper door in the Air Flow Meter to make sure it's not stuck open and check all connections to sensors, looking for corrosion of the terminals. DAW
MYRON
Thanks Guys, We are in the process of cleaning all the connections to all the sensors and injectors right now. We also found another parts car for 75.00 and we will be getting that one as soon as the weather clears up. The car was running fine when it was parked because of a perceived battery failure. The kid got a new battery and attached the terminals backwards and fried the computer. It has been sitting there getting vandalized ever since...
