i did a 260z carb manifold and linkage swap on a 260z engine and now that car won't run it just makes the noise like it wants to start but won't kick all the way over to run and i have bought a new coil and a new battery and still nothing and i have also tried to bybass the resister by attaching the coil directly to the battery and still nothing but when i did that the starting sound sounded stronger but now i don't know what to do please help just want the car to run so that i don't have to get it towed when i move in a couple months. anyone close but that would hav the time to come by and help me out? or just give me some advise what to do

Are you getting spark from the coil? I would check that.

 

Also, check the plugs and make sure they are not wet now.

 

Finally, you need to choke the SU's to make the car start. SU's are tempermental in that regard. Adjust the needles via the adjustment knob on the bottom, and adjust that from fully closed to 2.5 turns out. That should get you in the ballpark.

There many factors that could be causing your problem. The first thing I would do is go to Walmart and buy some "Tech 2000" carb spray, it's cheap and your car will run on it without any risk of damage to your engine. Fill the float bowls through the vents and squirt the venturies, and your car should start, as long as you have spark.
