Guest shuyun
ok the stock motor is good to about 7k from all the reading I have done on this board. Realy built N/A can rev to 9k but the life span of the motor is short. If and when I build my motor is it worth complety internaly ballancing the motor vs an external balancing of the motor? Thanks. Guest Anonymous
If you change internals and going to rev it balance the engine so a nickle will stand up on the engine when it is idling.
johnc
You need internal balancing and external damping.
Guest Zcarsmakemyheadhurt
L6's are pretty well in balance from the factory, but once you "build" I assume your talking about better forged pistons or a difference rod or ARP rod bolt's. Even if you dont use forged and replace the pistons with anything other than what your taking out, balance it. Stock rebuild dont bother adding just about anything to the recipricating mass balance. Good luck.
Guest Anonymous
If you're going to "build" an engine I strongly recommend that you have the entire rotating mass balanced. That includes the flywheel, clutch assembly and harmonic balancer. I had mine done at Bean's Crankshaft in San Diego, Ca for 125.
