LilGodzilla
Hello all. I bought my 75 280z back in January. Since then it has been gutted and engine removed. I have chosen to go with the underdog RB20. Everything checks out on it. The only set back now is the usual. I need a new oil pan and the wiring is demotivating. Only noob question I have is (consider this a track car and minus the cars lights etc.) What all needs to be hooked up wiring wise just to hear the engine run and correctly. As of right now There are zero wires in the car. I'll post pictures later tonight of my progress.
R3VO 3VOM
Nice to see another RB20 swapper out there. If you dont have any wiring in the car it would be beneficial for future use of the car to get a harness in there. Like a body harness. Its nice to have working gauges to monitor all the engine vitals and such. Even as a true track car you usually need at least taillights. To just get the engine to start and run, as if it were on an engine stand, you'll probably need to do some wire tracing on the loom for the RB. ECU power, ground, and a few other power wires and grounds I'm sure. Fuel pump will need power and ground. Starter will need power as well and some sort of switch or a friend with a jumper to engage it.
LilGodzilla
I heard them on youtube and figured i wasn't ready for an rb30 quite yet. Yes it will have all lights eventually and probably all custom gauges and an aluminum dash. But you answered my question so thank you! I'm dealing with a cut harness so I'm just researching pinouts and kissing my days off goodbye. As of right now I'm just buying rb30 compatible upgrades. Scored some splitfires for 50$! Once again I appreciate it!
LilGodzilla
Basically all the highlighted wires on here. Probably throw some inline fuses on there for now so I don't fry the ECU. http://wiki.r31skylineclub.com/images/9/9b/RB20_ECU_Pinouts.jpg Just took off the PS and AC. I will upload some pictures directly when the site lets me. http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Al_Benson/media/SAM_0326_zpsca3337b5.jpg.html http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Al_Benson/media/SAM_0327_zps9d96a2bc.jpg.html
