JKDGabe
She still surges at about 1k-1.5k rpm, I've replaced the cap, rotor, wires, plugs, fuel pump and filter, cleaned the throttle body but made no adjustments to it. What's next?! She runs great at full throttle but jumps a little at idle and wants to die at the mentioned rpm's. Oh yeah, also won't stay running when cold 'til temp. is all the way up. Guest Philanthr0py
good questions, My 73 240z has the exact same problems. I would like to know what else I can do to.... I cleaned the carbs too but i never adjusted anything except the distributor timing. Have you checked if the spark plug wires are in the correct sequence? the guy who sold me my car had them in random order, that's when my engine surged 1-2.5 RPM. It dropped to 1-1.5 when I corrected it.
JKDGabe
No, haven't checked the wire sequence but wouldn't it sputter and backfire if 2 wires were swapped?
JKDGabe
The prob appears to be the AFM. I adjusted it today and it smoothed out considerably. Not quite perfect but it's driveable at those rpm's now! A little more adjustment might perfect it.
