Guest christo
Does anyone have an idea what the max compression a L28 0.040 over, cast flat tops, around 105 -108 octane can reliably produce before implosion.
Guest norm[T12SDSUD]
Well I can tell ya from personal experience that going over 11:1 on 93 octane street gas will break many a piston ringland. However if you are going to be running 105 octane then I see no reason why 13:1 wouldn't be possible, although ringland integrity on the stock pistons may be questionable at that level even without encountering detonation. later, norm
johnc
It depends a lot on your cam. I'm running 13.6-1 and I have detonation problems with anything less then 108. Normally I run 110 leaded. Here's some information about high compression: http://www.motortecmag.com/archives/2001/jun/JUN01-01/JUN010101.html - John
