Finally found the right car. Project Newellstein.

Hey HybridZ members. Long time lurker, first time poster. My name is Logan, and I work for a company called THMotorsports. Been through 50+ cars and a handful of different motorcycle projects, and I finally found the chassis Ive been looking for. A 10 year love affair with these Z chassis came to a realization for me a couple weeks back. Im going to chronicle my build here.

First, a picture of my drag car project

1989 Mustang Lq4/TH400/S475/Air2Water

Needs a lot of buttoning up, exhaust is now twin dumps at the fenders, and the air to water sits under the fender-well opposite the turbo!

And my new baby; 1978 280z, 5spd, 106k miles

Was originally a california car, owned by a truck driver that used it as a cruiser on trips out west. Paint is a pearl white respray, and the entire interior had been restored. 106,000 on the clock, zero rust/rot, and drove from Chicago to Kentucky and didnt miss a beat. Forum member "curly" works with me at THM and found it on craigslist. Drove out, test drove it for 12 seconds, handed him cash and hit the road. Naturally it will be getting an LSX/T56 setup, as those are plentiful and cost effective for my goals. Going to be building an autocross/weekend warrior. More pics to come of progress!

welcome! that was the plan as the PO of mine to autox it, but he decided to carb it and ran great! cant wait to see more pics!

They're well sorted cars. Definetly can tell its from the 70's though! Ordered a new front air dam, thin bumper, twice pipes (to mate up to the LSX when im ready) and a set of the ground control coilovers. Going to get the suspension torn down and ready for blasting/powder coating!

Clocked out of work and headed straight to the garage to pull the suspension off this thing. No real surprises, other than one side of the mustache bar was missing two of the bolts that secure both it, and the lower control arm in place...Hopefully no more issues like that pop up! Currently waiting on my Ground Control setup, Z store rear brake conversion, and a set of 16x9 CCW reps. Hope to have it planted back on the ground within a couple weeks. No access to a welder will slow progress!

Well progress has been a little slow, waiting on parts. But I managed to get the engine bay gone over and back to a single color.
