77 280Z Proportion valve questions.

Recommended Posts

I'm in the middle of replacing the entire brake system on my 77 280z.

New booster

New 15/16 master

New stock front brakes

New rear disk conversion

I read that I can remove the brake pressure sensor block completely. True?

Also read that I can run a proportion valve from a turbo zx that had rear disks. True?

Do the factory proportion valves regulate fluid to the rear wheels and the wilwood one regulates fluid to the fronts?

On a stock valve is it just a pass through for the r/f caliper?

Can someone maybe do a sketch for me of a factory zx valve installed w/o the pressure sensor block?

Thanks

Go to the brake section of this forum and read up on the posts.  In a nutshell you remove the brake pressure sensing block and the stock proportioning valve.  You then place an adjustable proportioning valve in the rear brake line and adjust it to give you the correct front/rear bias.

Which rear brake conversion are you doing?  Techno Toy tuning has just come out with a 4 piston Willwood system that retains the ability to have the stock Z emergency brake. Check into it if you haven't already.
