Owen
Please educate me, if open headers and high flow exhausts are supposed to make more power, why are exhaust leaks bad? Are they just bad for torque? Thanks, Owen
Guest greimann
Exhaust leaks do not contribute to, or defeat any harmonic tuning that may exist in the system. Plus, they sound terrible, introduce fumes in an undesirable area and burn out whatever gasket may be left at the flange.
Guest kc6wfs
I might be wrong here but.... Open headers are great for certain things. Drag racing.. no restriction. The engine is comming to temp when you get on it and ya shut it down after the run. Stock cars, they have pipes after the collectors and have it dump before the rear tires. If on a day to day car you have a exhaust leak, at the header.... it will warp your valves dew to cool air comming in when you let off the gas. Thats when you hear POP POP POP as you let off the gas. Plus if it's a daily driver you don't want to breath exhaust fumes more than you have to. Hope this makes sence.. Sorry if i'm wrong.
