Whenever I get it cranked I don't think the alt is charging it at all...I just tightened my belt today and I still don't think it is charging...Any clue with what is wrong? While the engine is running disconnect the positive battery cable.... if the car continues to run ... the alternator is working properly... if the engine dies with the positive battery cable dis connected... then u need more advice from some one else. jaime240z Posted August 23, 2002 Share Posted August 23, 2002 Did you remember to fully charge the battery before installing the new alt. If not that may damage your nwe alt.
