DriftingPhoenix
Hey all, I'm a bit fresh here, and I've been tinkering with a 75 260z which had never made it to the road, but is now sold on. However I have just received my 71 240z from California. And I'm in love! I need to get her running so refreshing some bits and pieces, but want to know what fuel would she be used to? Does California run the leaded fuel that we know in UK or the unleaded? Dave
djwarner
All fuel in the US is unleaded. Most of our heads have had the valve seats replaced with steel seats. If your head has be re-worked in the last ten to fifteen years, the seats have probably been replaced and you are good to go with unleaded fuel. It is worth a check through any maintenance records. They do sell a lead replacement additive for exotic engines here. But quite frankly it is expensive and a bother. The only gas sold here with any lead at all is a low lead 100 octane general aviation fuel. It is extremely expensive and only available at the local airport.
