Dusty Posted January 12, 2016 Share Posted January 12, 2016 I was wondering how common it is to use a spring retainer that isn't of the Nissan sort with the big raised lip. Never had problems with lashcaps popping out on a few V8's I built. I could see things going wrong if you had a lot of valvetrain separation but then you have other issues. Xnke Posted January 14, 2016 Share Posted January 14, 2016 There are three different thicknesses of Nissan-style retainer in order to hold different thicknesses of lash pads. I can't think of a single V-8 with L-series style lash pads, all the V-8 style lash *caps* I've used have been pressed on or into the end of the valve stem, not simply setting in a hole.
