rags
I just started wiring the TEC II into my 71 with the turbo L6 and have a few questions for those who have already done this. I know the 71 uses that wacky tach that is wired to the positive side of the coil. How can I use the stock tach with the TEC? Can I put the electronics from a later tach into my tach? The other thing is can I get rid of the green/white and black/white wires that go to the distributor and ignition resistor? I'm trying to clean up the wiring harness that is in front of the radiator support while I'm at it. Thanks. Joe
TimZ
The TEC uses the same tach output scheme as the MSD ignition. There are a few different methods for getting the tach to work with the MSD - any of these should work for the TEC, as well. I am currently simply using the MSD tach adaptor, and that works fine. There are probably cheaper solutions out there, but I already had the MSD adaptor, and it is effective for me.
