Craig76z
It's almost rear end time with my build. I have a 78 2+2 that will have a 5.3l V8. I would like a stronger differential but don't know which way to go. I've been trying to read up on the Ford 8.8, Q45 and Armada installations but there's so much information and incomplete information that I feel lost. Here's the question. My car will be pushing around 400hp, which rear end would you choose? I'm looking for something that doesn't involve a ton of fabrication or special parts. Thanks all

wayverippah
Are you tracking it? I've been pushing 500hp (6.2) on the stock open r200... (Street driven, not track). You can probably get by with swapping in CV's. Otherwise, Reb is right on.
jacky4566
What the use? If you are going drag then for sure you are going to need an upgrade to R-230 or similar. If this is just a fun car with no launching then you could probably get by with stock R-200. Upgrade the axels if you want. +4% hp too. Craig76z
It's going to be a weekend / track day car. No dragstrip racing, I like corners!
RebekahsZ
If you think that drag racing only involves going straight, you haven't driven a very fast drag car. Be kind with the clutch.
