Ryan Merrill
I have an 05 L33 in my 71 240. I was wondering if everyone was stick with the MAF setup or going speed density?
crapforum
What do you mean exactly? The factory tune is a blend of both. The MAF will kick on at 4000RPM + and the speed density will handle everything below. Even when operating in MAF only mode the SD tables will be utilized in calculations. The MAF is in general not as accurate at low speeds hence why the factory does this, but a bunch of lazy "tuner shops" will default the tune to MAF only mode since all they have to do is modify the MAF airflow vs frequency table to get it to run proper air fuel ratio. Ryan Merrill
New to LS motors. I see most guys just eliminate the MAFall together on the LS builds and run the car via MAP. Us ford guys run a MAF with everything up to 1000+ Hp cars. Ford hasn't used a MAP sensor since 1986. The problem running no MAF is that the car cannot make changes for altitude or large degree of temperature change like we have here in Ontario. Car will be running NA this winter, but turbo setup will be installed shortly afterwards Edited September 29, 2016 by Ryan Merrill
