i've been quietly reading along as I biuld my 72 with a 300 horse 350 and a t-5. should have it running in a week. One of the last things yo do is tap the chevy slave cyl. for the 1/8 pipe. has this process been dependable or have you all discovered a better way? I have done alot of work to make the car as dependable as well as fast. I live in Martinez CA would like to see some running cars if to make comparisons and ask a few questions. Hey lonerider I've got in-outlaws in your area.

Glen,

I have run that set up for about a year now and have had zero leaks. Just be careful when taping that plastic, you don't get a second chance. Mark

I've got a T56 with a plastic slave. The first one didn't do too well and I ended up making a custom line. If you go the drilltap route consider using a bit of JB Weld to ensure it's a good tight fit. I think with a little JB mine would've held but I decided not to risk it.

Welcome Glenn! Good to see another Bay Area person on the board icon_smile.gif I sold my 260Z, so presently I am w/o, but as soon as I procure a 240Z, it's getting stripped of its internals ASAP. You have the JTR book already? If not, buy it!

Davy, I've had the JTR book and have refered to it alot. I enjoy fabricating things if only to slow me down alittle , I get alittle obsesssed with my projects. I should have it running in a few weeks I've already completed the suspension and drive train. I'll do the body and interior next summer. If want I'll look around for a good donor car for you. I taught myself to TIG weld and bought one for this project. They work great. I would like to see some other cars to see if I'm on the right track.

I've done it with the T56 one as well, one suggestion I'd make is when you tap it, look carefully at a tap and die chart if you can, often there are several drill sizes that will actually work on a tap. Use the smallest drill that will work for that tap to insure you get nice thick threads. If you drill it a bit big it'll still tap, but you lose thread surface to hold it in the plastic. I'm not crazy about it, but it has held and not leaked, so I donno. If someone had a reasonably priced aftermarket slave to fit a T56, I'd consider changing it or having it as a spare just in case. icon_smile.gif

Ps: Glen, cool, yeah Martinez isn't that far from me really, isn't it like just pass Vallejo? Also, sounds like your definitely on track, man, a tig at home.. That is REAL cool. icon_biggrin.gif
