I just asked that question. So far not too many replies...

This is crazy!

We should just buy a datsun 510 and from what I hear it's easy to do that instal.

Back to the question: what do you think we'd need to get this done? Motor mounts, exhaust... I've never done a swap so I'm not even what's involved with the basics?!

hey red boron, there is a guy here by the name zr8ed that has one bad ass z hes done it with the vg30et, from what i gather its not that common of a swap. i e-mailed him hopefully he writes back with lots of good info. he did a write up for zdriver.com its in the article section over there, its good reading ckeck it out, then yoiu should have a good idea to how its done. i think once the motors in place, the hard parts over, im just hoping the fuel injection wiring is as simple as a l28et swap.

Hey hotshift and redbaron!

I am the one Hotshift mentioned. You are going to find little to no info on this swap. I did plenty of research, and to my personal knowledge. I only know of one other fellow with the swap, and he is from Australia. I did the swap almost 2 years ago, and still have not heard of a single person that has attempted the swap.

It is not because it is too hard.. it all comes down to money. The cost per hp (including the install) is about 4 times higher than building and swapping in a 400+hp V8.

Just my personal experience.

email if you want any other info.

I'll help you out where I can.

As pointed out above, I have written a couple of pages worth on the subject, and have posted lots of pics at the zdriver.com site.

Good luck if you decide to go for it!

If it was me i would put SEMA vg30det in your 280z .i have a friend who has several that he would see very cheaply and the performance potential is much greater.
