Guest Dan0myte
When a wrecked car comes into a yard, the mechanics there will take a sawzall or cutting torch and slice the car in half, right between the dash and the front seats. They then sell the part with the dash up to the front bumper complete as one whole package. That's a 'front clip'. Having a front clip makes doing a swap much easier because you have every single relay, wire, transistor, grommet, etc. to do the swap. You have to be searching for parts all the time. slownrusty
Plus you can physically start the front clip once you hook up a fuel pump and feed it some fuel and most people do this to ensure the engine is healthy before undergoing an extensive and expensive swap. From your login name sounds like you want to drop a RB25DET into your Z31 - sweet! Yasin
slownrusty
Found this on the 'net taken at one of the multitude of Japanses scrap yards that specialize in half cuts. Picture is quite small - but shows what a half cut clearly is. Regards - Yasin
slownrusty
My bad - the top pics only show the front clip of the cars without the engine, dash etc. Here is a half cut of a 1JZ Soarer: Here is a fully dresses R33 GTR Skyline (fully dressed as it has all its front body panels intact): Hope that helps - Yasin
