hi, recently got my turbo engine back, here are the specs give me some feedback.

goals 350+ hp, great throttle response, and low end torque.

81ZXT with 87mm(3.0liter)JE forged pistons, stock rods race prepped and HPC coated. Stock crank that has been lightened, balanced, heattreated, and HPC coated. Head is p90 ported/polished, stainless steel valves, stock cam, also intake manifold has been ported to accomidate 60mm throttle body and ported runners to match ported head. thinking of doing custom exhaustmanifold with 2.5" wastegate, and 3" mandrel bent exhaust.

as for turbo goes, i was wondering if a T64 o-trim .69ar ceramic ball bearing would be good for my application? i know the t3/t4 hybrid is popular but i was wondering what kinda power i could get with the t64, any other suggestions? because i will be fabriating soon, and doing measurements.

also what about air-to-air I/C or water-to-air??? any advantages with the Z engine

Well, I'll have pretty much that exact setup dynoed in a few weeks, except that I'm 2.8litres, still. I upgraded from a TS04 to the T64 last year, and the TS04 had dynoed at 370 rwhp, and 400 lb-ft. I'm expecting more out of the T64, but I don't want to shoot my mouth off on this forum until I have proof. icon_smile.gif

The T64 is capable of flowing enough air to make about 600hp (flywheel), although I doubt that the L-series engine will be able to take it to the right part of the compressor map to acheive that.

As far as low end torque and throttle response, I make about 7 psi by about 3300rpm, 10psi by 4000, and 18psi by 4300. So, it's not the quickest spoolup that you'll ever see, but I find it perfectly acceptable. Throttle response is near instantaneous, as long as you are in the boost making rpm range. If not, then it will seem laggy. The T64 does definitely spool a bit slower than the TS04 did, but not annoyingly so. For the additional capacity, that was a tradeoff I was willing to make.

Havok, if you are interested, I am selling my setup which includes a T64 turbo, modified exhaust manifold, external wastegate(Racegate), downpipe and oil line. The turbo still has about 2 months of warranty from Majestic and I would be happy to send it to Majestic to have it evaluated to make sure it is still in great shaper. The turbo has about 1500 miles on it. You can expect to make 350hp@wheels without blinking an eye. With the proper tuning and setup I think 450hp@wheels is easily doable w/ about 20psi of boost. TimZ will soon prove or disprove that theory. Great turbo and makes plenty of good power
