scottyMIz
Well i'm having troubles again guys.My psi reading is changing all the time.I can be driving it and in third it will read 15psi on the intake gauge then the next day drive again and third will read 13 psi on the intake gauge. The pre ic gauge reads 15 psi all the time i check the intake gauge on full throttle.Could it be a leak?Or just the exhaust?I took out the pov and it seems to run worse It seems when it's venting pressure it boosts higher the faces say it all. What do you guys think?Bad ic?exhaust?leak? Guest Anonymous
Wouldn't atmospheric conditions change boost from day to day? Just wondering.. If the air is more dense and cooler out, wouldn't it be different that when its dryer and thinner air? Hope thats not a totally off the hook assumption, I do know that air craft that are turbo'ed have to make some large adjustments depending on altitude and temperatures. randy 77zt
try keeping track of weather-if it is colder out you will probably be getting more of a pressure drop because of cooling of air.most hardcore drag racers have one of those mini weather stations in the transporter.at glamis dunes i burned a 1/2" hole in the piston of my cr500 powered quad atv.it was cold and the gaint transporter i walked too had a weather station in it.owner said we were equal to 1500 below sea level at that time-he told me what was wrong with out even seeing what i was riding. scottyMIz
240 twin turbo i don't have an after market fuel system.I have the stock system but the pump is new and a high pressure high flow unit. But i crushed the frp to 55 psi and adjusted the afm so it would idle with out loading up with fuel.Is this wrong?I just got my turbo fever and am trying to mod it as much as i can with stock parts.I'm poor and can't afford all the high tech stuff yet.Where can i get one and how much? 240Z Turbo
Scottie MIZ, are you running an aftermarker fuel management unit?
Drax240z
Nope, I think you are finding that your intercooler isn't quite up to the task of your engine. What IC are you running? Sounds to me like your problems are temperature dependant as well. Might be time to think about turning the boost down a little, or finding a better IC. scottyMIz
it's from a volvo and said to handle up to 25psi.But i don't know that for sure it does a really good job you can tell by checking the temps before and after. What type should i get?It drove the same today after work in 85 degree heat so it kinda killed that theory.I have one more culprate i think it could be a fuel problem. My tank gets plugged from time to time the little tank inside the one that holds the fuel under acceleration.I think maybe it's starving for fuel and not getting enough heat and exhaust to keep the boost up.I'm going to have the tank taken off and professionally cleaned. scottyMIz
Well here's my update i was driving this morning and on my way to work as usual and of course in first breaks the tires loose upon boost so i let off didn't look at the gauge. Then in to second and i step on it and holy $hit it breaks the tires loose in second too apon boost. It's never done that before scared the crap out of me.Then i checked boost on both gauges and low and behold it was back to 15 psi on both. Now like someone said in this post does it depend on temp and humidity?Cuz this morning was about 65 degerees farenheit(sp?) and not humid at all it was very nice out.Could it be the ic being unable to drop the temp enough when it's 90 and humid?I'm planning to put an electric fan on the ic for better air circulation cuz if i run it hard like at the track it heats up quick but as soon as i go down the road it cools right down to where it's suppose to be.Am i nuts or what?
