Jason81NA,82RBtt
I know that this forum is not for Maxima's, but I respect your opinions very much. Here is the project. I have a 92 SE Maxima, it has the VE30DE motor in it. From what I understand this motor is somewhat releated to the VG30E(T) motor of the 300zx.I had give to me a set of Z31 manifolds and T3 turbo. I know the turbo is good for up to 240-260hp(14psi),Right? The VE30DE already has 190hp and a 10:1 comp ratio. Here the catch. I can't get thicker headgaskets,Boost sensing ignitions(distributorless),or hybrid turbos. So with a decient intercooler what do you guys think will be the max boost this motor will take before detonation? And what hp might I exect from that psi? I know that a lot of other things dictate when detonation accures, but is there a general rule. With those figures would this turbo at ___psi equal a big exhaust restriction. The main thing is it worth the trouble???
warrenp
here yah go. got to www.z31.com and www.zcar.com u will get better answers. and u can get better head gaskets! contact NISMO racing or jim wolf tech. u can get any thing from larger cams to t3/t04e turbo's. u can when u order a larger turbo just say it's for a nissan 300zx 1984-1989 pick a year. i think there is a maxima board some where. but i don't think ur trans is good with much boost. i heard of people adding turbo's to non turbo 300zx and didn't put a turbo 300zx transmission in (borg warner t5) so when they added too much boost the trans would not hold up. i doubt ur maxima front wheel drive trans is much better? maybe
Guest Anonymous
If your Maxima is an SE which I think it is, then the only other car(s) that share that engine are other maxima SEs from '92 to '94. It has chain driven cams where the 300ZXs had belts. I doubt the manifolds will work.
