BLKMGK
Looking at a wastegate for my Supra. The vendor I'm speaking to uses a Turbonetics wastegate but says that long term it can have some issues. I know DIDDLY about wastegates. Can someone educate me? I realize it's not a Z but certainly some of the experience applies across the board. TIA!
Evan Purple240zt
Whatsup man. I have heard bad things about the deltagate. Im sure its too small for your app anyways. The Racegate is a decent unit. I have been looking at the TIAL wastegate for awhile now. Its really sweet looking, and construction looks pretty good. Search yahoo for em and im sure you will come up with some pics and information. I would be curious to know whether a supra WG could be adapted for the smaller L motors. Im sure it would work fine. Later and good luck! - Evan
Guest Azel
I haven't heard many negative comments about the Turbonetics Deltagate. Heck I haven't even heard much about it at all, I guess it's really not that popular. I personally love the look of the Tial wastegates. When I finish my motor swap I'll get my hands on a 40mm Tial unit. Thinking about powdercoating it red. I figure, it Tial is trusted in GT cars, IDRC and even le mans cars that it's a top-echelon wastegate.
Sean 83ZXT
I found the new shop of the guy who originally owned Turbonetics and he makes some bad a$$ stuff! Go look up Innovative Turbo Solutions, I believe that was his shop. He makes the Indy gate.
BLKMGK
Yup, I've heard of the Indygate - what's it cost? Supposedly he's got a very nice controller that will allow you to run different boost in each gear to keep from breaking traction. THAT would be very nice as losing traction is one thing a Supra does very well!
Sean 83ZXT
http://www.innovativeturbo.com/Wastegates.htm I had it on my home PC. I don't think he has any prices listed as of yet though. I'd send him an e-mail. This is TiAL's Site: http://www.angelfire.com/me2/tpi/index.html
Guest Anonymous
my experience is only with Buick grand nationals. i have run almost everything out there. Deltagates, hks, stock, and ATR. here is the big question. BOOST CReep. how large is the puck? and how much air/motor do you have? so. saying that, here is what i have experienced. (on buick stuff) the puck (flapper) and hole needs to be increased in size to stop boost creep. i put on an ATR gate, and it wouldn't regulate at all. the delta gate regulated just fine, but took awhile to get to max boost. on the line , when i let er rip, didn't respond fast.... The HKS gate is the badass gate, big everywhere, i put this gate on my v8LT1 grand national. (alot of air here) and it regs with no prob at all. BLKMGK
Well, my original idea seems to be shot in the A$$. I'd been looking at a setup that used a cast manifold. For some reason I believe that HKS had made a cast manifold and that this was a copy of it... Well, it seems that this cast manifold was nowhere near as good as I had thought, hasn't got anything to do with HKS, and probably is less than "optimal". Here's the thread that led em to this -> http://www.supraforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20985 The setup I was looking at was about $3K. I've since found a nice Greddy setup for $3500 new in a box but guess who's NOT got the cash at the moment? Dammit! The Greddy kit still isn't perfect but it would've worked. So, it looks liek I'm back to drooling over one of these -> http://www.sound-performance.com/parts/turbokits.htm About $5500 for the turbo and manifold etc. Check out the nice wastegate though My big problem now is injectors and a fuel rail. I've found a used set of injectors and a used rail for $600. New rails go for $400 (?!!) and injectors cost a ton. Just not sure I want to do the used setup. (sigh) Who has a good cleaning service for these puppies? Grr, I hate this....
