Guest jwelch
Sorry for the duplicate post ( I put this on the driveline forum too) but I'm lost. I'm having some interesting problems. I have a 77 280 Z with a SMB 350/700r4 and a 3:54 R200 diff. The car is a mild setup ~340HP/390tq. When I do a normal take off everthing seems to work fine. When I floor the thing it revs to 4K but the rear wheels aren't locking, I should be able to smoke the wheels off in 1st gear? After inspecting the car on the jack stands (rear wheels off the ground) I found that when car is in park the tranny and driveline are locked solid but the rear wheels spin freely. Is this normal for the R200 to spin in park? I'm trying to see if I have 1 problem or 2. Is it the tranny or the diff? Thanks in advance for the help. v8zed
Hey Jwelch, It is normal for the wheels to spin with the trans in park as long as they are off the ground. Your ring and pinion are locked but your spider gears allow the rotation. Dennis V8zed
