grumpyvette
biohzrd thanks for the reply, now I read most if not all of the site info I post and that site has mostly good very helpful info from an obviously knowledgeably guy , (but Id like to privately ask him about one thing he mentioned)
biohzrd
i'm sure that would be ok with him. he is always willing to talk with anyone about anything. just e-mail him or me. knowlege is power and like in motors you can never have enough. i would like to think i'm pretty knowlegeable about engines and mechanics in general but i'm also not to proud to say that there is plenty i still need to learn. any time you want to chat let me know. sounds like i could learn a lot from you. Guest Russ240z
Grumpy, What advantages do the 441 chevy castings have over other stock heads? I noticed in your postings on the 383 that 441 heads were in several of the tests. I have a set of these that came on a '70 model truck. Do I have something special? Thanks. biohzrd
i'm not as good with the stock head issue as others but i believe that they are similar to the double humps. i know that they are open chamber heads and could have come with either 2.02 / 1.60 or 1.94 / 1.54 valves. they don't flow as well as the double humps but with porting can be made to put out around 400 to 450 hp. they do have bolt holes in the frount for your acc. i have them on my 406ci and i'm getting 459 hp and 483 lbtq on the dyno. they can be good. i've got tons of porting work into mine though. i think grumpyvette would be better to ask then me though. grumpyvette
biohzrd just about covered everything there was to say on the #441 heads, they are by todays standards not the best choice but like biohzrd said with extensive porting they can be made to work!
