Guest Anonymous
I've got a 76 280 w/stock FI, modded head, cam, and 2.5 exhaust. The head was modified to phase 2 by Performance engineering 7 years ago. I believe this consisted of porting in/exh, unshrouded valves, tuliped valves, radiused seats/valves. I did not add a larger throttle body which is to come. I did add the usual cold air intake, 6-2 msa header, and 2.5 exhaust. Now that I'm looking into the Stahl header I need more input on what to select. The spec sheet at stahl recommended the 1 3/8 primary header good for up to 220 hp. Others here have recommended 1.5 and 1 5/8 like the Honsowetz book recommends. I've been happy with the msa 1.5 in primary header. This is a street machine with plans to rebuild with flattop pistons in the future and larger throttle body. I'm interested in low end torque. My power takes off around 3000 rpm and pulls hard. Does anyone have any more recommendations? This is quite an expensive header and I don't want to be dissapointed. Thanks.
Synlubes
JetDriver I can`t ad much, but a good friend with a ITS 240 ran the 1 3/8 tubed header. He also recomended the same for my app(L28 block / N 42 head / cam / triple webers) The guy has over 20 years working on Nissan`s. He has had this header for quite a few years and it`s still in very good shape. Maybe some of the racers here will comment.
katman
1-3/8 for an ITS 240Z would be about right. With another 26 cubic inches or so for the L28 and a cam I'd probably be looking at 1-1/2, even for a street car. Best bet- ask Jere Stahl hissownself.
