Guest Anonymous
i dont think there is anything better than the juice. a charger and a spooler are great but im not going to use all of those ponies all the time. just wondering what setup you got. i have just a carb plate 100shot. but my 7.5:1 can take a little more on my 350 4bolt. Guest Anonymous
When my LT1 one is in and running in the next month or two, Nitrous will be one of the first bolt ons to go on it. Probably a 150 or 200 shot with an adjustable "wet" kit to start out with. I have run nitrous for the past 15+ years on every performance car I've had. I've run the gamut from 150 hsp low end systems to multiple stage systems rated at 1000 hsp, foggers and plates both. Nitrous can give the best bang for the buck and your engine is no worse for the wear, when both the ENGINE & NITROUS are properly tuned. Yes, you can and fine tune the nitrous systems. I have run as much as 225 hsp hit on a stock bottom end 350; cast not forged. After 3 years of this, when engine was torn down for a stroker project, not a single ring/piston/rod was cracked or damaged. Likewise I have run a "Fogger" style system with stage 1 at 400 hsp and stage 2 at 300 hsp, without adverse affects,( engine was built with all forged components, built for this amount of nitrous). Most manufacturers "sandbag" their recommendations as to how much nitrous you can safely run on a given combination, this is good because most do not have the experience to tune a system. But just because a given system is rated at a max hit of 250 hsp., does not mean that it could not be tuned to develop more hsp. Likewise, if your engine combination dictates that you can safely run 150 hsp hit, according to manufacturers recommendations, that doesn't mean you can never run more without harming your engine. Nitrous systems can be tailored/tuned so that you can safely run more than the Nitrous manufacturer recommends. Power to the People!!! Guest Anonymous
wow a 225 shot on a stock bottom. what power band did you run it in. this is my first time running the bottle and love every minute of it. before i was all about running a charger for the instant power. but they got to expensive. there are some things in the car world i dont understand. why do people buy a more expensive four cyclinder imports when you could get a domestic for cheaper and go faster. there is a big exception with z they either got 8s 6s or some aa. ehh it all runs down to the money. you got the dough then youll get some go. Guest Anonymous
Sorry just now getting back to you. The engine with the stock bottom end was a low rpm motor ( read TORQUE). Cast iron heads, cam w/lift just under .500. Usually shifted at 5200 rpm, made a ton of torque with the nitrous, which was perfect for the car,3900lbs. Just a good solid street motor. Have run several brands of nitrous systems, but for the past 4-5 years I've run NX (nitrous express). Systems are quality items, Hsp ratings are more accurate, IMO, and tech support is great.
