TPI & Centrifugal SC - good combo?

Just a quick question. I'm sorta partial to the TPI's but I know they run outa breath before 5k. Right now that's not much of a prob as I have a 305 but will hurt me if I go to the 350 later. Wouldn't a centrifugal style supercharger (Vortech or other) be a good compliment to this induction sys since they take a while to build boost (3k? and above). This seems like it would be the best of both worlds. Gobs of torque down low but will pull to 6k rpms (prob my max) I'm running mid 13's in the 1/4 w/ the N/A 305 so i'm pretty happy right now but I know that will wear off soon enough. :D

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

The TPI will be the restriction to that RPM that you project. Unless you free up that TPI 's flow significantly I can't say it's going to perform as you want it to, at least IMHO. Adding a puffer will improve performance, but if you blow through a straw and then a piece of 1" hose you'll get the idea. :D

Not that I'm an expert, but I've got an aftermarket TPIS FI mini-ram. I ran a Paxton for several yrs before dumping it a couple of yrs ago. The setup ran fairly decent cept Paxton is(was) not state of the art in centrifical SCs. The 4 to 5 lbs of boost supplied by the Paxton was noticable giving 90 to 100HP increase, but the Paxton SN93 had flex and belt problems. Runner size on any TPI sys shouldn't be a problem with a SC since it's giving all the air you need, plus, at the throttle body. Great success has been had with TPI and TBI sys using Vortex and Procharger SCs. smile.gif

Thanks Fast Frog

I have the TPIS book and the minirams are sweet. Pretty cool you're in Grand Junction, my company had me in Boulder for 5 months last year and I found my Z in Fort Collins (owner just moved from AZ). Prepped the car over a couple of months and drove it home before Christmas (1800mi in 27hrs) without a problem. Small world..... Later.
