BLKMGK
I'm running the AEM. It's not going to be available for the Z guys - too old. However the Race Unit, which hasn't been released, could be adapted. It's also possible to adapt a PnP unit with some work. Will read up on the Megasquirt thing but for now I'll list off what the AEM can do. It'll be going on my Z in the future, it's ON my Supra running VERY well right now Dual knock sensors - adjustable response to knock and knock levels are adjustable. Can modify fuel andor spark PER CYLINDER. Dual O2 - can both be W/B, you should use at least one W/B. Techedge is a good one. Full sequential, batch, bank etc. Must use resistor pack for low impedance injectors. Full data logging both internal and on the laptop. Internally it's got a pile of memory and can log quite awhile depending upon number of inputs logged. Seperate software package to handle the logged data that has included math functions etc. for data manipulation Boost control. Can do boost vs speed in case you have traction issues. Can run two fuelboost maps toggled via a switch. Can run Nitrous or VTEC. Can use stock sensors from most any car - you've got tables to configure most OEM sensors. Lots of spare I/Os for switching things on like warning lites, solenoids, etc. Automapping to help configure the fuel map (new feature) Traction Control is coming if the car has ABS sensors or you retrofit them. We've already got launch control (2step (fuel or spark) builds boost on the line). Anti-lag like a rally car is available too. 10 injectors sequential or 12 if you slave the extra two to two of the others. 5 coil outputs - anything over 5cylinders goes watefire. On-board MAP sensor for barometric compensation on MAF based systems. Oh yeah, it can run MAF if you'd like - most don't. That's all I can remmeber for now, I'm quite sure I've forgotten features. Price for my box was about $1200 w/FJO W/B extra...
silicone boy
I went all out and got an Electromotive TEC3. The direct fire units looked real cool. I'll have it installed, along with the fuel injection in the next couple of months (my wife says so, at least). I'll let you know how it goes. Guest Anonymous
Just picked up a Haltech E6K flying loom kit including all sensors with 3-Bar MAP sonsor, 3 channel igniter and 6 pack coil setup direct from Australia. I'll let you know how it all goes together. If anyone has done an E6K install on a 280ZX turbo motor, let me know how it went for you. So far I've decided to go direct fire waisted spark triggered off of the optical cam sensor. I'll just make a billet distributor cover instead of using the original distributor cap mostly for looks. I had to change out the trigger wheel from the 280zxt distributor and replace it with one from a 300zx. The 280ZXT trigger wheel has six slots for each cylinder, but all 6 are the same width. Using this wheel, you can't distinguish between any of the cylinders firing. By replacing the wheel with one from a 300ZX I get a "Home" position for cylinder 1 that was unique from the other cylinders (wider slot). In doing so, I found that all of the VG30 distributors were the same between the 300ZX and the Maxima's. With programable EFI, I can make full use of my 550cc RC injectors, T3/T04b turbo and Skyline intrercooler.
BLKMGK
Sweet! Knowing where cylinder 1 is makes things really nice and allows for full sequential. Good stuff to know regarding the distributors. Also - someone has just about got an AEM running a 7MG (think that's right) Supra Turbo motor in a MKIII Supra. http://www.aempower.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?p=10247 Really want to see a 1JZ done. I swear I'm tempted to pull my brand new 383 for a 2J or 1JZ
