Guest miloz31
I'm thinking of purchasing the HALTECH E11, has anyone used this system yet? Kinda looking for pro's and con's with the E11! Thanks
Guest Anonymous
The E11 is new on the market and has had some growing pains. The main areas of concern are in messed up wiring harnesses and poor documentation of the same. The E11 is the successor to the E6K. I have the E6K in my 240 turbo and so far am pleased with its opperation. I would have gone with the E11, but Haltech has been known to have issues with initial and early produciton units. The install base for the E11 is very small since the unit was only released on Nov. 11th 2002. There is much discussion on this subject at the Yahoo support Group: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/HaltechSupport/ If you live in the USA then support is through your local dealer. Make sure you are good friends with them. Don't expect much from Haltech USA. They only have 2 people and only one of them knows anything. Haltech Australia has been great support for me even though I live in the US. The E6K can do semi sequential fuel injection or Waste Spark ignition, but not both. The E6K is a long proven platform that is stable and cost effective. I bought my complete system including ALL sensors, ignition components and connectors for less then $1200. If you need sequenctial fuel control, then you need to go with the E11. The need for sequential fuel control is up for debate and I opted to go batch fire and utilized the waste spark mode in my E6K application. I'm trying to arrange for dyno and tunig time. After that, I'll post the results. Good Luck
Guest miloz31
Yeah, I would really like to purchase the E11 and use a direct fire ingnition and sesquential injection. I hope that there will no problem with the install or wiring. So, does the E11 able to use the stock Nissan crank angle sensors to trigger the coil pack? Keep me informed! Peace
Owen
I still need to sell my E6K...any takers for $1100? Email me off line. Owen
Guest jt240z
Yes, The E11 and E6K both can use the stock distributor in the 280zx Turbo as a trigger for Home and Main. This is called the "Nissan Trigger" in the setup. The trick is to replace the stock 280ZX Turbo trigger wheel in the distributor with one from an 84-89 300ZX or Maxima using the VG30 motor. All you have to do is remove the distributor cap. Remove the rotor. Unscrew the hold down screw in the center of the rotor shaft. This lets you remove the trigger wheel and replace it. The trigger wheel looks like a flat piece of round SS sheet metal with 360 outer slots and 6 inner slots cut into it. The 6 inner slots on the 280zx are two outer slots wide each. The 300/Maxima wheel has a 9 outer slot wide #1 position hole. The remaining 5 are the same as the 280ZX. Make sure you mark the top side of the new trigger wheel before you remove it. The wheel is reversible in the 280zx distributor and will give the wrong trigger if you do reverse it. Just mark it "TOP" with a sharpe pen before you remove it, and you'll be OK. You need to go to the Yahoo support group site and read the posts on the E11 before you make up your mind. The E11 is VERY powerful, but the early growing pains are quite sever! If you're willing to be on the bleeding edge then go for it. http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/HaltechSupport/ You have to join the group to view the messages, but it's worth it to know what you're getting into. Be patient, as the moderators take some time to get you on the list.
Guest miloz31
I'll check it out but the good think about the E11 is that I'll be using it on my 1987 300zx Turbo so hopefully I should not have to switch out anything! So how much do think I can purchase the e11 for? Thanks
Guest jt240z
The E11 is going for about $1500 for the basic flying loom kit with TPS, air and water temp. sensors. In addition, you'll then have to buy the MAP sensor and terminating connectors. I figure about $1650 or so, should just about do it. You might be able to get it for less if you really shop around. The world that is..
Guest miloz31
In the 1987 Z31 Turbo distributor do I have change anything out? Also will the e11 able to run low impendace fuel injectors? Thanks
Guest Anonymous
When using the Z31 distributor, you don't have to change anything. The E11 can support up to 12 low impedance injectors. Six should be no trouble at all. Here is link to the spec sheet: http://www.haltech.com/Products/ECUs/E11/E11_spec.pdf
Guest miloz31
Hey thanks for all the info! Now its time buy the E11 and six RC 550 injectors! I just hope I don't have too much problems installing it. Peace
