high beem low beem

Hey all!

Im not sure if this is where this post is suposed to go but oh well!!! I hjave a 77 280 and only the low beems work.. the guy i bought it from was a rel dumb ass and like taped and JB wellded every ting to gether and said that he tryed to fix the lights but his definition of fix was to JB weld the high and low beem switch i got a new one..but im still only getting my lows.. any ideads on what i coudl do to get high again?? =P

check globes...

 

connections...

 

check the switch at the steering wheel to make sure that is is properly connected.. and check fuses

My Z switches GROUND for th ehigh and low beams. If you do a search here you'll find my trials from when I wired up my lights with relays. Are these lights a higher wattage? If so use relays or you'll smoke that switch.

 

Wish I could help you better but it's been awhile since I troubleshot mine. If it were in front of me.... (sigh) Be sure and get a schematic to look at, it really helps. Volt meter on the various connections too!

Get the painless relay kit like Pete P did. I followed his lead on this and it is amazing what a difference that made . The lights are much brighter and they nolonger go out with a puff of smoke from the switch or fuse box. Mark
