Guest LAYTON Posted June 30, 2002 Share Posted June 30, 2002 here i am going on vaca leaving tues its sat night trying to finally start my 240 iv rebuilt everything ! the car was a bare shell when i got it last summer i did not pull it apart ! i was starting to feel pretty good about it did all hot rod stuff to it as a peiced it together all i had to do today was put my fuel lines on the tripples ,wire the elctrnc dist and bolt in the seats ,and the battery a fuseable link got the dist done ,the fuel lines ,the fusable link put the key in and the wires at the ignition swicth get really hot and so dose the harness behind the glove box (were it has no connections at all im i little stumped it only dose it when the key is all the way on not when in the acc position any help ,experience or ideas would realy help i was intending on giving it to the painter before i leave besides this and seats its ready for gas all the harness conections apprear obvious but i have looked at a hayenes wiring diagram and have a huge head ache help ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

But I would not recommend you to drive the car with this problem to the body shop. A fire could possibly occur. You could tow with the battery disconnected. Your problem is a short in the part of the wiring that would be "hot" with the key in the "on" position. The "accessory" postion of the key would only activate accessories radio, etc. Wiring is either hooked up wrong or htere is a short somewhere. I would backtrack all "hot" wires from the ignition switch to their end. As the wiring gets hot, you might be able to actually feel the short. GOOD LUCK!!
