Guest comeandzpa
So I filled up my tank on my way to the York show... On my first 1/4 tank, I got about 100 miles. I figure about 20 MPG, not too bad, but not too good for highway driving. I got home (about 250 miles both ways) W/ just under a half tank left, maybe 45%. However, the last of my tank went in about 70 miles. Granted it was mostly city driving, but my gauge just SHOT down from half to empty. Is this a problem w/ my gas gauge, or do I somehow get really bad gas milage in the last half of my tank??
Guest greimann
It is not really a problem, but that is how they are work. As long as the gauge doesn't make huge leaps all of a sudden you can be sure that windings on the sensor are OK. Also, if this is a ZX, you have to look at the little vernier gauge that reads out the last 1/4 of a tank. That will help you determine how empty you really are. Your mileage per tank sounds about right. Your MPG will have to be calcualted the usual way, with the reading from the pump and odometer.
