Guest Anonymous
73 240z, been sitting for quite a few years, doesnt run. hooked a hose to the intake of the block mounted fuel pump and stuck that in a gas can. cranked motor, no gas sucked up the tube. is this proof the pump isnt working, or is there a priming technique? i took the top off and cleaned it a bit (old gas is brown junk now) put in some gas to prime it. no better. can i clean the pump, rebuild, or replace? thanks, -james
Guest Anonymous
Pump no pump. Take it off. You should be able to pump the lever by hand and get enough suction to suck gas... replace it. cheap.. That pump was used on about every other Datsun in the 70's.. They usually die from under use rather than over use

It would be a matter of time before your new pump will be sucking all the crap on the bottom of the tank.
