Guest MasamuneX
Alright fella's I've been to mx6.com and probetalk.com and they seem to be stingy with info(or they just don't like me, heh). I've been working on this 89 Probe GT for a while and I just can't get the darn thing to start. I have spark and fuel. I think the timing might be off by a hair but I'm not sure so what do you all think? Help me so I can sell this and get a Nissan . Thanks! Guest livewire23
Im no guru, but since no-one else seems to be answering, I'll take a shot. Since fuel+air+spark=ignition I'd suggest you take a look at the airbox and make sure there is air reaching the engine. I've spent too many hours working on motors trying to start tham and then get frustrated and take the air filter off and then it starts. (wouldnt reccomend this on a car though, you can have something fly into the intake and cause cylinder damage. Also, how certain are you that the fuel is making it all the way to the cylinders? make sure the injectors arent clogged and that the fuel is actually making it into the cylinders. (I got no clue how to do this though). good luck with it.
Guest MasamuneX
I was thinking of turning it over, pulling out each plug and seeing if they had any fluid on them. Maybe thats whats wrong. I'll try both of the suggestions. Thanks.
VRJoe
Had a similar problem with a 626, turned out the timing belt had failed and slipped. Timing looked OK, but the cams were out of sync. Also check that you are getting a spark, in the '93 626 the coil and ignition mod are built into the distributor and are prone to failure. - Joe
